Weekends

Agora - March 4th, 2015

Like all other Agoras of the ancient world, the Agora of Izmir was a meeting place for all commercial, political, and religious activities for the local people. One of the main streets of Smyrna city was cutting through the agora dividing it in two equal parts, and there were entrance gates at both ends. The excavation works are still ongoing at the agora for the basilica and a part of the eastern stoa.

This place is very interesting as it is located in the city center of Izmir in Konak district, it is a open-air museum where you can visit vestiges from roman empire and enjoy a coffee on the seaside after.

Çeşme - March 28th, 2015

We plan to visit Cesme our mentors, Kasia and I. Unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather, it was raining cats and dogs!
Cesme is is a coastal town and a famous resort in the Aegean region, located 85 km west of Izmir. It's name means fountain, what a nice name for a very nice place. I must come back to visit it as hen the weather will be more suitable.

As they are great mentors, they always have a contingency plan. We visited quickly Cesme, then we went to Urla for lunch. We spent an enjoyable moment together.

Picnic - March 22nd, 2015

To celebrate our first week together and enjoy the enjoyable weather, we have made a picnic on the sea coast of Izmir in Inciralti.

It is a pleasant place for picnics where friends and familly can meet during the week-end and spend time to eat & drink, play games, fly a kite, or just enjoy some quiet place by reading a book. I like that kind of place because it gives to people a small cute corner of greenery inside a big city and can help to escape the stress of the work week.
